From 2008, Eros the Hunter, 30″ x 40″, oil on canvas. Wired for hanging.
To the ancient Greeks, Eros was a youth or young man, unlike the Roman version – Cupid. The Greeks feared Eros because he had the power to overturn your life, so I took that as my cue when I painted him. The aureole behind his head was influenced by symbolism used in Hindu and Buddhist depictions of deities.
He was part of my display in the 2012 Artomatic in Crystal City, VA, near Washington, DC.
