Having fun with color and Dionysus, who is hanging out by the sea and having a little smoke. Oil on canvas, painted over a failed painting, 25″ x 30″. It is wired for hanging, as it was part of my exhibition in May of 2023 at Otero Arts, Inc.
Dionysus is more than Bacchus. He is also known as the Bull-Horned One, a fertility god, and the Twice-Born One. I borrowed the snake, also a symbol of reincarnation or rebirth, from Shiva, as Dionysus spent time in India according to lore.
