This is an oil painting from 2008 of the famous, or infamous, gorgon Medusa, chief priestess to Athena. Her snake ‘headdress’ was inspired by sculptures of Hindu/Buddhist figures with their ornate headdresses. I decided it would look interesting if her snakes seemed to be part of her trance state or more generally interacting with her.
It was displayed at the Artomatic show in 2012 in Crystal City, VA, near Washington, DC. She is a striking figure and was popular in that show with the general public.
It is 32″ x 32″ x .75″ . It is unframed, but already wired for hanging.
