I am a self-taught artist. I used to work for the National Gallery of Art bookstore and would use my lunch breaks to go upstairs and look at art. While I lived in Maryland, I also took day trips to NYC to the Met and other places to see still more art. It is one thing to see artworks in a book or on video. It is a whole other thing to see them with your own eyes.

My work has a lot influences: ancient cultures, such as Minoan, Greek, and Roman, with Aztec, etc. I am also heavily influenced by Renaissance artists, Impressionists, some 18th century artists, the Symbolists, the Fauves, and even Georgia O’Keeffe and Agnes Pelton. I like to combine western mythological figures with eastern spiritual symbols to give them a whole new perspective. That’s why you’ll encounter a distinctly Buddhist Apollo among my artworks: his depictions had a particular influence on Gandharan Buddhist art.
